My essential gear

I have rounded up the essential gear that I will be taking with me on my trip and tossed it all into a pile. New rain suit, sleeping bag, tent, backpack, small ground tarp, and most importantly the self inflating ground pad.  I am too damn old to sleep on the hard ground :)

Next week will begin the process of deciding what to actually pack in the backpack.  It will be as little as possible, that's for sure.

Rain gear or no rain gear

I was originally not planning on buying and taking along rain gear.  My thinking was, if it looks like rain, then I will just stop and wait it out. But with all the storms and rain lately, I have decided that it might be a better idea to have some rain gear.  I still don't plan on riding in the rain but I decided it would be better to have some rain gear to change into if it looks like rain may be possible.  This way if I end up getting caught in the rain, I wont get soaked while I drive until finding a good place to stop and get out of the rain.  I ordered a rain suit from Frogg Toggs and it should arrive on the 26th.

Trip starts June 4

I am currently still at home preparing for my trip.  Departure date is planned for June 4.  Posts will begin once I hit the road.  This is the first time I have ever done a blog and I basically have no clue what I am doing.  I am primarily writing one so my friends and family can check in to see how my trip is going and where I am at.
